Soil Maker — Organic Waste Converter (OWC)

What is SoilMaker™ OWC?
A compact, efficient organic waste converter provided by Vikasit Ecosystems to handle food and organic waste on-site.
What types of waste can go into an organic waste converter?
Organic waste such as vegetable peels, cooked food, fruit waste, coffee grounds, garden leaves, and biodegradable kitchen waste.
How long does it take to produce compost?
Advanced OWCs can generate compost in 4 hours depending on the machine and the type of waste.
Is the compost safe to use in gardening?
Yes. The compost produced is rich in nutrients and safe for home, community, or commercial gardening.
Does the machine smell?
Our OWCs come with proper odor control mechanisms and microbial solutions to eliminate bad smell.
How much space does an OWC need?
Depends on the model and capacity. Compact systems are available that suit apartment basements or rooftops.
What are the benefits of using The Soil Maker?
It allows rapid, odor-free on-site composting, reduces waste transportation, minimizes landfill use, and creates nutrient-rich compost for reuse.
Will this WMAAS meet BBMP/KSPCB regulations?
Yes — The Soil Maker and WMAAS are designed in adherence to BBMP and KSPCB guidelines; many societies already use compact automated OWCs for compliance.
How can apartments manage organic waste effectively?
Use smart composting machines like Soil Maker to convert organic waste into compost within 3–4 hours. This reduces odors, saves space, and simplifies composting for residents.
How often should we clean or maintain the machine?
Routine cleaning every 30 days recommended. Preventive maintenance every 3–6 months depending on use. Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) available.
What is the lifespan of the composting machine?
With proper care and regular maintenance, our composters last 10+ years. Standard warranty and optional extended coverage available.
How do I get started with Vikasit Ecosystems?
Contact us to schedule a free audit. We'll assess your waste profile, recommend solutions, train staff, and set up systems for performance tracking and compliance.
How do you motivate residents to participate in waste segregation?
Run awareness workshops, “Green Champion” rewards, signage, child-friendly eco activities, and communicate via WhatsApp and newsletters to build habit.
What are the benefits of using compost generated in apartments?
Use in community gardens, green walkways and rooftop herb gardens; improves soil health, aesthetics and signals sustainable living.
Who should use the Soil Maker?
Real estate developers, facility managers, apartment associations, industries, hospitals, hotels, restaurants and municipalities — anywhere organic waste is generated regularly.
Major benefits for a facility adopting the Soil Maker?
Savings on disposal cost, manpower, electricity; compliance with environmental norms; positive sustainable reputation; and usable compost as an end-product.
How do I calculate the right OWC capacity?
Estimate ~1 kg per family/day, 0.5–0.7 kg per person in hostels, or ~0.8 kg per meal in canteens. Add 10–15% buffer for safety.
How much does an OWC machine cost?
Ranges from approx. ₹3 lakhs for small models to ₹30+ lakhs for large municipal units; price varies by capacity and features.
How fast is the Soil Maker compared to other machines?
Soil Maker converts waste into compost in ~3–4 hours, while many other machines take 8–24 hours.
Can an OWC handle garden waste?
Yes — with built-in shredders or add-on shredders. Soil Maker handles both food and garden waste efficiently.
What is the ROI for installing an OWC?
Most communities recover costs within 2–3 years through savings on waste hauling, compost reuse, and compliance benefits.

WMAAS (Waste Management as a Service)

What is a waste management service and why is it important for Bengaluru?
It covers collection, segregation, treatment and responsible disposal. Bengaluru generates thousands of tonnes of waste daily — without efficient management this leads to pollution and health issues.
What is WMAAS and how does it help apartment complexes?
WMAAS is a turnkey subscription service handling segregation, collection, on-site composting, recycling partnerships and compliance reporting, delivering measurable sustainability outcomes.
What types of waste can be handled through this service?
WMAAS manages wet (food/organic), dry (plastic, paper) and sanitary waste, routed through authorized channels per municipal guidelines.
How does WMAAS by Vikasit Ecosystems work?
A decentralized subscription model including source segregation, on-site composting (Soil Maker), data dashboards, and reliable recycling partners.
Is WMAAS only for large apartments?
No — any community generating more than ~100 kg of waste daily can benefit from WMAAS.
What’s included in the WMAAS service?
Manpower, composting machines, compliance documentation, training, reporting, and full service operations as per the subscription.
Is WMAAS expensive?
It follows an OPEX model — no large upfront cost. Monthly fees depend on waste volume and service level.
Can we use our own staff with WMAAS?
Yes, but recommended to use trained personnel provided by the WMAAS provider to ensure consistent performance and compliance.
Does WMAAS meet all BBMP mandates?
Yes — WMAAS ensures compliance and provides documentation to avoid penalties.

Compost — Questions & Safety

What is composting?
Composting is a biological process where microorganisms decompose organic waste into nutrient-rich soil amendment under controlled aerobic, warm and moist conditions.
Can we store the compost in cakes or solidified form?
Yes, compost can be compacted into cakes or solid form for easier handling and transport.
Is your compost tested and certified?
Yes — compost is tested for nutrient content, moisture and pathogens, and is certified by CSIR-NIIST and Suchitwa Mission, Kerala (as per current certifications).
Why is there fungal growth after storage for 10 days?
Fungal growth is from residual moisture and is a normal microbial activity. Proper drying and breathable bags minimize it.
Is your product certified by BBMP?
Our Soil Maker systems are designed to meet BBMP and KSPCB guidelines (products designed in adherence to local regulations).
Name all bacteria present in your bio-culture.
Bio-culture contains a mix of thermophilic and mesophilic bacteria, selected for efficient organic waste breakdown (proprietary blend).
Composting is natural — why use a machine for 3–4 hours?
Machine accelerates initial breakdown by creating optimal aerobic conditions, improving hygiene, consistency and reducing overall composting time.
If you have blowers, does that mean it's a heating machine?
No — blowers supply oxygen to aid aerobic decomposition. Temperature rise (35–45°C) is due to microbial activity, not external heating.
Can compost be used immediately?
Yes — output compost (15–20% moisture) can be used immediately for large trees and landfilling. For garden/nurseries, resting 15–20 days is recommended.
How much waste can the machine handle per day?
Capacities range from ~20 kg/day up to 10 tons/day, customizable for apartments, institutions, or industrial use.
Is there any odor during or after composting?
When operated correctly with the right mix and bio-culture, the system is odor-free.
What kind of waste can be processed?
Designed for organic kitchen waste, cooked food, fruit and vegetable peels, leaves and garden waste. Exclude plastics, glass and metals.
What is the electricity consumption of the machine?
Depends on size. On average, a 100 kg/day machine consumes ~4–5 units/day, making it energy efficient.
How safe is the compost for soil and plants?
Compost is odour-free, pathogen-controlled, tested for heavy metals and nutrients — safe and beneficial for soil health.
